MAKE A POSITIVE MOVE – March 2025 Article

Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Introduction:

The Bible encourages us to move forward in faith, leaving behind past failures and pressing on toward God’s purpose for our lives. Life is a journey filled with twists, turns, and crossroads. At different points, every individual must choose between standing still, moving backward, or making a positive move forward.

  1. Let Go of the Past

In Philippians 3:13, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of letting go of past mistakes, failures, regrets, or even successes that keep us complacent. When we dwell on the past, we limit our ability to embrace the new opportunities God has for us. To make a positive move, we must release bitterness, guilt, and disappointments, trusting that God is in control.

  1. Take a Step of Faith

Faith is the key to progress. According to Hebrews 11:6, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.”* Making a positive change requires stepping out in faith, even when the path is uncertain. Faith moves us beyond our fears and doubts—whether we are starting a new career, repairing a broken relationship, or pursuing a God-given vision. Like Peter walking on water, we must keep our focus on Jesus and take bold steps forward, knowing He is with us every step of the way.

  1. Stay Focused on God’s Purpose

Distractions and feelings of hopelessness can quickly pull us away from making progress. In Philippians 3:14, Paul encourages believers to “press on toward the goal.” To move forward, we must stay dedicated, maintain a clear vision, and not allow past failures to deter us. According to Jeremiah 29:11, God has a unique plan for each of us, and when we remain committed to that purpose, we can move forward with courage and determination.

Conclusion:

Making a positive move is essential for spiritual, emotional, and personal growth. It involves letting go of the past, taking steps of faith, and staying focused on God’s mission. As we navigate life’s journey, we must trust that God is leading us toward something greater. Every step taken in faith draws us closer to fulfilling His purpose.

Finally, you need Jesus as an anchor to help you withstand the storms of life that may try to hinder your journey. Will you allow Him to take control today?

Reflection:

– What is holding you back from making a positive move in your life?

– Are you willing to release past hurts and failures to embrace new opportunities?

– How can you step out in faith and trust God more?

– What steps can you take today to align yourself with God’s purpose?

By making a positive move today, you set yourself up for a future filled with God’s blessings and purpose. The time to move forward is now!

AVOID SELF-LIMITATION  – February 2025 Article

Focus: AVOID SELF-LIMITATION

Texts: 1 Samuel 17:45, Philippians 4:13

INTRODUCTION

Opportunities, challenges, and boundless potential for greatness await you on life’s journey. However, many people intentionally limit their potential, making it harder to achieve their goals. Confidence issues, low self-esteem, and a lack of faith in one’s abilities are all symptoms of self-limitation. This can manifest in various ways, such as not pursuing a career due to fear of failure, not speaking up in a relationship due to low self-esteem, or not using one’s talents for fear of rejection.

Even though many people fall short, God has given each of us the ability to overcome challenges. The story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:45 is a powerful example of the impact of trusting and believing in God. Despite his small stature and lack of battle experience, David achieved victory. “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin,” he said, “but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” David’s triumph shows that faith in God and self-confidence, rather than worldly credibility, define true power.

A similar message is found in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse reminds us that our strength comes from God, not from ourselves. Therefore, we should not allow our limitations to define our capabilities. To break free from self-imposed limitations, we must be open to new ideas, trust in God’s promises, and be courageous in pursuing our dreams.

  1. Reject Fear and Doubt

Fear—whether of failure, rejection, or the unknown—is one of the greatest obstacles to success. However, we have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Instead of letting fear dictate his actions, David faced Goliath head-on, trusting in God’s power. Likewise, we should not be afraid but act confidently, knowing that God is with us. We have the power to overcome our fears and doubts, and we must not let them hold us back from achieving our dreams.

  1. Embrace a Growth Mindset

A fixed mindset—the belief that our talents and abilities are unchanging—is often the root cause of self-limitation. Instead, we should strive for a growth mindset, believing that we can continually improve through learning and development. Proverbs 4:7 states, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.” When we commit to lifelong learning, grow from our mistakes, and refine our skills, we can overcome self-imposed barriers. Let’s embrace a growth mindset and be inspired to constantly improve and develop.

  1. Take Action with Faith

James 2:26 tells us that “faith without works is dead.” Many people recognize their capabilities but never take action to fulfill their dreams. To avoid self-limitation, we must take initiative. David did not hesitate—he ran toward Goliath instead of standing still. Whether starting a business, returning to school, or learning a new skill, we need to act in alignment with God’s guidance. Let’s be determined and committed to taking steps toward our goals.

CONCLUSION

We can overcome self-limitation through faith, a growth mindset, and courageous action. David’s victory over Goliath and Paul’s declaration in Philippians 4:13 remind us that God is the source of our strength and possibilities. Our dreams can become reality when we break free from self-imposed constraints and pursue our goals with determination.

REFLECTION

– What fears and doubts are preventing you from achieving your goals?

– How can you change your mindset to be more open to growth and opportunities?

– What practical steps can you take to break free from your current limitations?

Everything you need to shine has already been given to you. Live without doubt, trust in God’s power, and move forward in faith. Finally, having Jesus in your life is essential. He is the ultimate victor, and nothing can stop Him from conquering. By embracing this truth, you can develop a victor’s mindset. Take a step of faith today and accept Him as your Lord and Savior.

Let us pray.

  1. Father in heaven, thank You for Your care and kindness that are renewed every day. I sincerely apologize for allowing my limitations to distract me from Your purpose. Please forgive me and be merciful to me.
  2. Dear Lord, open my eyes to the opportunities around me and strengthen my faith. Lift me beyond my current obstacles and limitations. I am truly grateful.

LET GOD HAVE HIS WAY – January 2025 Article

January 2025 Article

Focus: “LET GOD HAVE HIS WAY”

Bible Text: Luke 5:5

“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” (KJV)

Introduction

The beginning of a new year often brings a sense of renewal, hope, and determination to set goals for the months ahead. Yet, despite our plans, there are moments when our efforts seem fruitless, and the path forward appears uncertain. It is in these moments that we are called to surrender to God’s will.

The story of Peter in Luke 5:5 teaches us that yielding to God, even when it defies our understanding, leads to breakthroughs and blessings beyond our imagination. As we step into a new year, the path ahead often feels uncertain. Our hopes, plans, and resolutions are met with the stark reality of the unknown. Yet, as believers, we are reminded that surrendering to God’s will is the surest way to navigate life’s uncharted waters.

Peter, an experienced fisherman, had exhausted his efforts but caught nothing. When Jesus asked him to cast his nets again, Peter obeyed, and the result was a miraculous catch. This act of surrender highlights three principles for letting God have His way in our lives, which we will explore in this writing.

  1. Yield to God’s Sovereignty

Peter’s response, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing,” reflects human frustration after exhausting one’s strength. Yet his willingness to act “at thy word” reveals a heart that recognizes God’s authority. Proverbs 19:21 reminds us: “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless, the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.”

As we step into the year, let us acknowledge God’s sovereignty over our lives. Recognize that His plans are higher than ours, and His wisdom surpasses human understanding. Surrendering our plans to Him allows Him to direct our paths in ways that lead to fulfillment and purpose.

  1. Obey Even When It Doesn’t Make Sense

Peter’s obedience to Jesus’ seemingly illogical request led to a miracle. Similarly, we are often called to trust and obey, even when God’s instructions challenge our reasoning. Isaiah 1:19 encourages us: “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”

Obedience positions us to experience God’s promises. It is not about understanding every detail but trusting His perfect will. As you begin the year, commit to saying “yes” to God, even when His ways seem unconventional. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

  1. Trust in God’s Abundance

When Peter obeyed, he experienced an abundant blessing—a catch so great that it overflowed. This is a picture of God’s ability to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Trusting in God means believing that He will not only meet your needs but exceed your expectations.

As you navigate the challenges and opportunities of this year, remember that God’s resources are limitless. Depend on His provision, and He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Conclusion

The journey into a new year is an invitation to deepen our trust in God. Letting Him have His way means yielding to His sovereignty, obeying His Word, and trusting in His abundant provision. Like Peter, when we surrender, we position ourselves to witness God’s miraculous work in our lives.

Jeremiah 29:11 assures us: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Let this year be one of surrender, trust, and obedience. Allow God to have His way, and He will lead you into a year filled with His purpose, peace, and provision.

Let us pray:

  1. Father, I thank You for Your love and tender mercy upon my life. I acknowledge that I have made You too small in my life. Forgive my ignorance and disobedience. Have mercy on me.
  2. Lord, I surrender my plans, wishes, vision, and goals to You. Have Your way and be my anchor as I navigate through this year. Let my life bring glory to You. Amen.
